<HOME ROOM LINK>

Welcome to <BATH LINK> a newsletter for and about Bath alumni--anyone

who graduated or attended Bath High School. It features information about

classmates, reunions, school events, teachers, plus web site links, a pop

quiz (but no homework), some humor or other items of alumni interest. The

newsletter, due to have 47 graduating classes (and all are important), is

somewhat long. It is suggested that if you don't have time to read it all

right now, save it in a special folder named, "<BATH LINK>," and then read

it when you do have the time.

<BATH ARCHIVE LINK>

If you missed any of the previous issues of <BATH LINK> you can now

read them on the Bath Schools web site. Thanks to the excellent efforts of

Mrs. Ruth Mowery and her computer class, this issue and the past seven of

the <BATH LINK> alumni email newsletter are now available in an archive

file. [ http://www.noacsc.org/allen/ba/Alumni.html ]

<EXCELLENT SCHOOL LINK>

The Ohio's State Department of Education designated Bath High School as

an "excellent" school for the 2002-2003 school year, with students meeting

all of the state's 12 indicators. In recognition of this tremendous

accomplishment, the State Board of Education sent a "certificate of

commendation." Now that is really something to turn cart-wheels over!

<MARCH LEVY LINK>

   The Bath school board voted to combine two existing operating levies

and to add an increase on the March 2004 ballot. It is a five-year, 11-mill

levy which includes both the renewals and new money.

   The combined renewal levies generate $2.8 million a year, while the

increase would generate $2 million the first year and drop to $600,000 for

each of the next four years.

   According to Supt. William Lodermeier, the district will not receive a Ford

Motor Co. Lima Engine Plant tax abatement until 2006. Bath schools are

looking at a $500,000 deficit in 2005 due to cuts in school funding and

employee health insurance costs. He said without additional income the

district would need to reduce the budget $1.4 million in the 2005-06 school

year.

<SCHOOL BOARD ELECTION RESULTS>

Last June long-time school board member Bob Tomlinson resigned after

serving for 24 years. Jeff Cary was appointed to fill the vacancy. In

November Jackie Place was elected to the post and will take office in

January. Board members Jeff Dackin and Brent Garver were re-elected.
