The levy renews combines two existing
operating levies and an
increase to generate $2.8 million a year. The
increase would generate
$2 million the first year and drop to $600,000 for
each of the next four
years, according to Supt. William Lodermeier. The
district will not
receive a Ford Motor Co. Lima Engine Plant tax abatement
until 2006.

(The following is an
Editorial published in The Lima News
careers soon will
receive a tremendous boost from Ford Motor Co. The
world's No. 2 automaker
in January 2005 will bring to the high school its
Ford Partnership for
advanced Studies program, an experience-based
industry and technology
curriculum.
We often hear that students need to learn real-world
skills and schools
need to do a better job
of preparing young people to enter the work force.
No one is better
equipped to help schools do that than one of the industry
giants who one day will
employ some of these young people. Every day,
Ford employees use the
skills they'll be teaching
field trips and
professionals visiting the classes, the students will see the
skills they are learning
apply to the real world.
And, Ford is going to train a local pool of
people who one day might put
the instruction they
receive to use at the Ford Lima Engine Plant.
Ford developed the curriculum, which meets
standards set by the state,
and will train
take the classes will
begin with a semester in their sophomore years and
then can continue with
two semesters' worth of work each in their junior and
senior years.
Students can earn up to 15 credit hours at
College or the
first in the state to
have a college credit agreement with the Ford program.

Gary L. Rumbaugh
(BHS'59) and his wife Bernadine have two children and

Mary Ann (Williams) Epperson Baldridge
(BHS'59), 64, of
24, 1939, in
in death.
She married Richard D. Baldridge, who
survives. Mary Ann attended
Schools through the
ninth grade. Mrs. Baldridge had been a nursing
technician for Home Health
Care and had also worked for Monsanto and
Ex-Cell-O. She was a
founding member of Healing Hearts Ministry,
Wapakoneta. She was a
member of Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 199,
Veterans of Foreign Wars
Post 1275 and American Legion Post 96, all in
helping others.
Survivors also include four sons, Rodney C.

"Happy Together." The teacher who most influenced his life
was Coach Levy who
taught him discipline and sticking with things when
