Dear Parents and Staff                                      December 17, 2004

This note is to update you on some recent events happening at Bath Schools.

The Board regretfully accepted the resignation of Mr. Ron Bivens as Director of Operations. Ron has accepted a similar position at Mentor Schools near Cleveland Ohio.

As a cost saving measure, Mrs. Kathy Byrne will substitute three days a week without insurance benefits until June 1, 2005. Mrs. Byrne retired from Shawnee Schools as their Operations Coordinator.

Kathy Byrne, Robert Gross; Maintenance Supervisor and William Lodermeier will assume Director of Operations responsibilities until June 1, 2005. The board is in the process of evaluating the Director of Operations position. If the Board decides to fill this position, Kathy Byrne will not be a candidate.

As of January 1, 2005, medical insurance rates will increase 7.5%. Premiums increased 10% in 2004 and 26% in 2003. Insurance increases continue to be a significant cost issue.

The winter edition of the Connection newsletter was mailed earlier this week.  Please contact the superintendent’s office if you don’t receive a newsletter. We will be trying a new delivery system this spring in an attempt to increase delivery to every home in the district.

The May 3rd  Levy is 1.4 million dollar operational renewal!

NO NEW MONEY…..1 LESS YEAR (4 years instead of 5 years)

We are posting these Superintendent letters on the school district website.
