Dear Students, Parents and
Welcome to the 2019-2020
school year. We look forward to a very
enjoyable, rewarding and educational school year.
Bath Middle School will once
again place increased emphasis on career education. An
exciting change to our career education plan will be the Naviance Program. Naviance is a college and career readiness software program that partners with high schools and other K–12 institutions to provide students with college planning and career assessment tools. All
middle school students will be involved in this college and career readiness
program beginning with this school year.
In addition to the Naviance
program, the middle school will continue and expand our career education plan
that was initiated last year. The sixth
grade students will be exposed to numerous career fields via regular guest
speakers. Sixth-Grade students will also
receive career based information during their keyboarding/technology class.
The Ohio Department of
Education has developed 16 various clusters for students. Bath Middle School
staff members are certified to provide information to our students in each of
the 16 clusters. This year, students in grades 7 and 8 will receive information
in the career clusters listed below.
- Health Science
- Law and Public Safety
- Information Technology/Coding
- Business and Administration
- Personal Well Being
- Small Engine Repair (New for
- Engineering and Science
- Education and Training
- Construction Technologies
- Human Services
- Agriculture and Environmental
- Computer Coding
The career education instruction will take place within the regular school day schedule. Students will move from one career cluster to another on a scheduled rotation. It is our goal, that after completing grade 8, students will have received valuable career information in 15 different career fields. While we do not expect students in the middle school to make career decisions, we hope to provide them with information that may provoke thoughts about possible careers in their future.
Our middle school will continue to offer honors level classes to students in grades 6, 7, and 8, with Algebra I and Spanish I offered to qualifying 8th grade
students. Every 8th grade student is issued a laptop and is
permitted to take them home for academic use, while each classroom in grades 6
and 7 are equipped with laptops for every student.
A significant change to our facilities for the 2019-2020 school
year involves our middle school gymnasium. Our gymnasium has been remodeled and is a
facility that our students, community and staff can be proud of and enjoy
I wish all our students, parents, staff and community members
a very safe and rewarding school year.
