As we begin the 2023-2024 school year, I want to thank the board of education for giving me the opportunity to be your superintendent. This marks my forty-fourth year in education. I began my career by working in the Elida Local School District for twenty-six years. I was the middle school principal when I left there to be the superintendent at Spencerville Local. After four years in that position, I retired in Ohio and went to Michigan where I served for three years as the superintendent of Holten Public Schools. Family issues brought us back to Ohio and after our return I got the opportunity to be employed as the superintendent of Crestview Local Schools in Van Wert County. I served in that capacity for ten years before retiring again. Then Covid hit and I realized I was not ready to give up working in my chosen profession. When I got the chance to be your superintendent, I did not hesitate, I said yes. 

Confucius once said, “choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life.” I have had some days where it definitely felt like work, but I have always loved being in this profession. 

I have been blessed to have had the good fortune to work with great kids, fantastic staff members, and wonderful communities. This is an outstanding district. At Bath we want every student to experience success, whether it be in academics, the arts, athletics, or a combination of any two or all three. The staff, the board of education and the community are committed to assisting our students as they work to achieve their individual goals. Together we will continue to graduate young adults who will be productive citizens and a credit to their community.
