Dear Students, Parents and Community Members,
Welcome to the start of the 2020-2021 school year. We look forward to a very enjoyable, rewarding, and educational school year. I hope you have had a relaxing summer and are ready to help us get off to a great start to our school year.
Earlier this year, Mr. Dackin emailed each of you regarding our plan to reopen Bath Local Schools. You can access our district plan anytime by going to the Bath Local Schools webpage at http://www.bathwildcats.org/
and selecting the District News tab in the middle of the screen and then selecting “Coronavirus Information & District Updates”. Given the current health situation across the world, we have had to make many changes in order to attempt to put our students and staff in the safest possible learning environment. The process of meeting the needs of our students will be a work in progress while we change and adapt to try to meet the needs of those in our building. We appreciate your patience as we develop the safest and the best scenario for learning to take place.
One major academic change for the 2020-2021 school years is that every student, grades 6, 7, and 8 will be provided with a laptop computer for academic use. Students will be permitted to take the laptops home with them each day to help with their learning experience.
A second major change is the use of Schoology. Bath Local School District is now using Schoology, an integrated learning management system that provides course management, mobile learning, and support for system-wide communication. Schoology will provide a unified and consistent learning platform for our entire district k-12. Schoology enables our students, parents, and teachers to engage with learning materials and their school community from the classroom and beyond. We look forward to using Schoology in our classrooms to enhance connectivity and communication across our school district.
With Schoology, students can digitally submit homework assignments, access content, review grades, participate in interactive discussions, receive announcements and feedback, take tests, write academic blogs, and more. As a parent, you will be able to view your child’s activity within the platform.
A third major change for the school year is that we will have students who receive their education in an on-line format provided by our teachers. Approximately 20% of our enrollment will receive their education remotely this school year.
We appreciate your patience and understanding as we attempt to make the opening of our school buildings as safe and efficient as possible, while also ensuring we are meeting the needs of those students who are receiving their education on-line.
It is my hope that our students, parents, staff, and community members have a very safe and rewarding school year. If I can be of any assistance, please do not hesitate to contact me. I can be reached at 419-221-1839 or contacted by email at [email protected]
